A Christmas celebration will be held on 21 December from 10h to 12h. Members of the Chinese community are welcome to attend. The venue is Baptist Church (4, Inverary Ave, Epsom).
A look back at past events
On 30 November, the Epsom Chinese Association held a birthday party for members with birthdays in the fourth quarter, covering months 10–December. There were 40 birthday celebrants, including one who was turning 90. The association presented Mr Wang, aged 90, with a special gift and a card signed by all members. Nearly a hundred people attended, enjoying more than ten performances, including dance, tai chi, choral singing and solo singing.
The Epsom Chinese Association was established in 2007, and currently has 160 members.
Regular activities include:
- Every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, from 9h to 10h in the morning, members do health exercises, tai chi and Baduanjin at Melville Park (the park beside 2, St Andrews Rd).
- Every Thursday from ten in the morning until noon, members gather at Epsom Baptist Church, at 4 Inverary Ave, for singing, dancing, talks on health and other topics, and holiday celebrations.
- English learning: attend the church's English class every Thursday from one to half past two in the afternoon.
- Every two months, members take part in Newmarket Police Station's community safety ambassador activities from ten to eleven in the morning.
- Members also actively participate in community service activities from time to time, including tree planting, weeding and visits to rest homes and kindergartens.
- Trips are organised from time to time.
